artist statement

This ongoing body of work is a series of paintings investigating
psychological spaces which reference the memory of space
and explore concepts of time, longing, and nostalgia.
Combining imagined, as well as existing interiors, architectural elements reappear throughout the paintings. The disparate spaces with echoing elements become familiar through the viewer's recollection and become unified through the perceptual experience of the works.

In the most recent paintings, multiple perspectives are painted in transparent layers creating a visual dissonance. A perceptual shifting occurs as the viewer seeks to orient themselves within the paintings. The ghosting of architectural spaces combine with decorative details to reveal hidden rooms as one space disappears and another emerges.
